Universal Design

ABEE, Inc. recognizes the need to design programs and construct Challenge Courses and Climbing Walls that are accessible to persons of varying physical, intellectual, and emotional abilities. In response, ABEE encourages programs to take a pro-active position in advocating the delivery of inclusive adventure curriculums for people with disabilities. In promoting "Universal Program Design" ABEE offers a variety of services:

New Construction ABEE, Inc. designs Challenge Courses and Climbing Walls that are accessible to persons with varying abilities. A number of diverse activities are available, all of which can be integrated into a traditionally designed course or wall. Technical and facilitation skill training is included with all universally designed construction. Retrofitting an Existing Challenge Course or Climbing Wall ABEE, Inc. provides custom retrofit packages to existing programs that want to make their challenge courses or climbing walls accessible. Technical and facilitation skill training is included with all universally designed retrofit construction. Consultation Consultation services are available to help organizations successfully integrate persons with disabilities into their adventure program. Training Technical and facilitation skill training is available to assist in the effective involvement of children and adults with disabilities into new or existing adventure programs.
